Welcome to Podere Calcinaia,

a family-run, organic farm in the heart of Tuscany. On the top of a hill, surrounded by forests, vineyards, olive groves, fields, and fruit orchards, Calcinaia is the perfect place to unplug and reconnect to a slower pace, a quieter life, and a stronger connection to our surroundings.

The old house hosts an agriturismo with two kitchens and five bedrooms (each with private bathroom), a big and bright room with wooden floors for group activities, as well as our home. Renovated in the early 2000s with care and attention to its history, the agriturismo features traditional terracotta floors, high ceilings, and wooden beams.

Outside, you can enjoy your meals under the arches of our courtyard, relax under the big walnut tree, or take a hike in our forests, vineyards, olive groves and fields. Our big, friendly dogs are always up for a good cuddle, or you can make friends with our cats. With a big, old, stone oven, our garden is also the perfect place for delicious home-made pizza, which is particularly enjoyable on a warm summer evening.

Wanting to play a positive role in the ecosystem we belong to, we pay attention to how the resources of the land are used. Our water comes from a well 60 metres under the hill, and is heated through solar panels, or, when there is no sun, with the wood we gather from our forests. This water also heats up the rooms during the winter, through a floor heating system. Since we rely on a septic tank, we only use low-impact, biodegradable cleaners from a local producer. The same producer also makes the soaps that are available in the agriturismo, as well as the dish detergent. We ask you to respect this choice, and bring biodegradable detergents with you.

Benvenuti a Podere Calcinaia

un’azienda agricola biologica a conduzione familiare nel cuore della Toscana. In cima a una collina, circondata da boschi, vigneti, uliveti, campi e frutteti, Calcinaia è il luogo perfetto per staccare la spina e riconnettersi con un ritmo più lento, una vita più tranquilla e un legame più forte con ciò che ci circonda.

L’antica casa ospita un agriturismo con due cucine e cinque camere da letto (ognuna con bagno privato), un’ampia e luminosa sala con pavimenti in legno per attività di gruppo. Ristrutturato nei primi anni 2000 con cura e attenzione alla sua storia, l’agriturismo presenta tradizionali pavimenti in cotto, soffitti alti e travi in legno.

All’esterno, potrete gustare i vostri pasti sotto gli archi del nostro cortile, rilassarvi sotto il grande noce o fare un’escursione nei nostri boschi, vigneti, uliveti e campi. I nostri cani, grandi e amichevoli, sono sempre pronti per una bella coccola, oppure potrete fare amicizia con i nostri gatti. Con un grande e antico forno in pietra, il nostro giardino è anche il luogo perfetto per una deliziosa pizza fatta in casa, particolarmente apprezzata nelle calde serate estive.

Desiderosi di contribuire positivamente all’ecosistema a cui apparteniamo, prestiamo attenzione all’utilizzo delle risorse del territorio. La nostra acqua proviene da un pozzo artesiano a 60 metri sotto la collina e viene riscaldata tramite pannelli solari o, in assenza di sole, dalla legna che raccogliamo dai nostri boschi. In inverno, quest’acqua riscalda anche gli ambienti, tramite un sistema di riscaldamento a pavimento. Poiché utilizziamo una fossa biologica, utilizziamo esclusivamente detergenti biodegradabili a basso impatto ambientale di un produttore locale. Lo stesso produttore produce anche i saponi disponibili nell’agriturismo, così come il detersivo per i piatti. Vi chiediamo di rispettare questa scelta e di portare con voi detergenti biodegradabili da usare nell’agriturismo.
